Ciao, Ciao, Lovely People… A little story on from my writing journey to date!! This one’s from World Poetry Day 2020, during a time when the world was in quarantine. Rather than importing everything from my basic blog, I’ve edited this post to reflect that it’s a post on past events. World Poetry Day is on 21st March, and coincidentally, it’s the anniversary of my first ever poem AND my first poetry prompt as the host of #VerseAngel. 2020 marked 10 years as Angel Page, my pen name/online persona (You can see my blog post on that here), and 4 years as a prompt host. To mark this special occasion, I shared a surprise in the form of a cover and title reveal!!!! Before that, my laptop broken down and I posted a readership notice in December 2019 and had to stop hosting #VerseAngel for an indefinite spell, while trying to find a way to return to it. Apart from my prompts, I was building a collection of poems and short stories for quite a while. If you follow me on Twitter at @VerseAngel and @angelpagecdlmhq, you might have seen a “live” contents page, where I would add new writes, or update my working titles upon completion. I also promised that when @VerseAngel reached 2,000 followers, I would do a reveal of a possible front cover for it, and to hold you over until that point, I tweeted a placeholder title cover with the words “Errrm… A Scatterbrained Self-Portrait, I Guess!?” on it. For those who aren’t aware, that was actually the tagline description for my blog, before I finally settled some time last year on “Creative. Dyspraxic. Lots More…”.
Some time in February 2020, I finally reached that landmark, and while I had designed a few covers, I still had about seven titles in mind (including the placeholder), and couldn’t decide on one!! But that changed when I cut a critical part from my illustrations. Perhaps one day, I will share some of the titles I had in mind, or save them just in case I write another collection. Today, I feel that I have enough writes to go to publication, but I felt that having a title helped me very much. I was able to write three writes that week, which is an accomplishment for me, as I’m not the most prolific of writers!!!!
It is my hope that I will get published one day, and Yours Truly is delighted to share this reveal. Please take a look at a possible front cover for my collection of poems and short stories, “Scent Of Scorched Feathers”.
